Useful 3D Printing

3D Printing is great, you can print all types of gadgets, models, toys almost anything.  I prefer the useful or functional prints.  Most things you need to print can be found on Thingiverse but sometimes you just need to create something a little more custom to your needs.

My tools of choice for this is to use CAD modeling software.  I use Fusion 360 for detailed designes that might need chamfers or fillets ie nice rounded edges.  If I need a quick prototype model I will use Tinkercad.  The benefit of tinkercad is also the ability to easily import STL files and modify existing designs you may have found on Thingiverse to suite your needs.

Some useful things to print are storage containres, organizers, project boxes for electronics projects, camera mounts, toothbrush holders, mostly things that are custom to your needs and dont exist in a shop.

Recently I bought a cameara to be used as a baby monitor cam, and there is no way to mount this (without drilling holes in the baby cot), so 3D printing comes in handy here.

Another use, is making some project boxes for my home electronics projects.  Below is a project I made to control 12v devices, as a prototype I used an old plastic screw box, but after some time in Fusion 360 we have a nice wall mountable box with all holes needed for wires and a snap on lid.

Some simlple stackable containers for my wife's jewellery box to neatly organize all the little things she houses in there.

There are so many things that you can do with this for functional reasons, but also just for fun.  Below are some more things I have printed either for fun, or mostly for function purpose, like speaker mounts, toothbrush holders or even toilet door signs.
